We all know that you easily can loose a lot of time on Facebook, the time you need to do productive business activities instead. Therefore, it is important to manage your time and relationships on social media. Use social media to benefit your business.

Think Community.

Facebook groups’ purpose is to connect and build relationships. Think community. Many people are using groups like “post and run”. What I mean is that many people post their stuff and “run”, not looking at the engagement or the group’s activities. This is not interacting, not starting a conversation – this phenomenon is like putting your business card in front of somebody on their table and leaving. Do you think that they would pick it up and call you?

Most people join too many groups to even be close to having the possibility to interact with postings in those groups. If you look at your digital presence in Facebook groups and compare these to those in reality, would you consider rethinking your way of interacting with those groups?

Consider this if you have or create a Facebook group

Important in Facebook groups are rules that are set for the group. Always read and respect them.

If you are an owner of a Facebook group, you should really consider how you engage and interact with your group. So have a clear intention of the group before you start it. Then consider the following: Are you giving the amount of time and value that is needed or necessary for your group? Consider giving 30-40 minutes a couple of times a week to participate and engage. Show up!

So how do you increase the engagement in a group you own? Here are a few tips:

  • Tag other people who you think can deliver value for a groups question (referral)
  • Answer questions
  • Ask questions
  • Share your wins and successes
  • Celebrate others successes
  • Start a conversation
  • Be interested, not interesting
  • Educate
  • Give more value than what you take.

Remember there are no dumb questions. The only ones that are dumb are the ones you don’t ask.

In social media, there is always a conversation going on and a possibility for interaction and conversation. Use that to your advantage to expand, grow and build your business.
